CBC JOBS FAIR, WITH A BIT OF DRAMA FROM THE RIGHT

Last week the Congressional Black Caucus finished up on a multi-state jobs fair, and what they found were hundreds and hundreds of black men and woman who are more the willing to stand in long lines, in the hot sun, hoping and praying for a job, any kind of job to support they're families. Many of the people who turned out received positive information but the reality is, there are still twice as many people, who probably lost faith in the system, that never showed up. Many major companies that traditionally hire African Americans are getting workers from other parts of the world. Mexico has welcome several new American plants in the last ten years, all these jobs could have, and should have, went to the unemployed people of this country but because of the rights efforts to remove collective bargaining rights from the working people of this country, these jobs go else where. The manufactures that produce in other countries are going to sell those products to Americans to make the biggest profits for their bottom lines. There is a lot of talk going on in the political arena about the 2012 race for the White House, several of the new faces on the republican side are hammering away with the drama and profiling claiming to have the answers to these problem. You have to ask yourself, do these new republican faces know how, and want to, solved the problems that you face everyday. Bad mouthing Obama isn't going to get you or me a good paying job, making fun of the situation doesn't help, what we don't need is another drama queen, or king, telling us that they have all the right answers. This week i happen to catch one of my favorite movies, Sunset Blvd. with Gloria Swanson playing Norma Desmond, why does this movie remind me of the political right?, well if you watch it, you'll see a true drama queen, delusional and out of her mind, someone living in a world all her own, still believing she matters. The right is so much like Norma Desmond to me, lights, camera, action, at the expense of you and I, not realizing that everyone has seen and heard this story already when George Bush was president. Reducing the public sector work force has been a major issue with the right, increasing the amount of money the rich make in this country is another top issues for the republican party. When the republicans won all of those seats in congress the campaign message was jobs, jobs, jobs, but what they didn't say was they're not for you, you, you.
