I told myself I wasn't going to post an op-ed until after the election, well the elections are over and it's time to reflect on the issues that surfaced during the political attack season. Let us remember the statements made by the right wing attack machine on this President. (R) Former Speaker Of the House, Newt Gingrich with the food stamp President comments. (R) Governor Of Texas, Rick Perry, you remember him, he's the guy that relaxes with a shotgun at a place he holds so dear called nigger head, he was touring the country, mostly the south, telling White Christians that President Obama was equal to the Anti-Christ attacking their southern White Christian values. Michelle Bachmann, her claim to fame was this idea that Obama might be linked to the Muslin Brotherhood. Rick Santorum, Rick had these ideas that Obama wants to turn America into a socialist European style nation.
Where are they now?, I'll tell you where, they're home, with there families, enjoying the life style they so wildly spewed was going to end the day this President was re-elected. So!, I guess all is fair in love and politics, unless your someone that believed that nonsense, unless your someone that was arrested protesting the re-election of Obama and now you have a court case to deal with.
A few months ago I posted an op-ed basically stating that Obama had a negative effect on race relations. I want to retract that, I witness something extraordinary a couple weeks ago in the super market in my neighbourhood, I saw a young white couple with two children, struggling at the cash register to stay organized, keep up with their kids, pay for their groceries, then push their buggy full of bags out the door. The husband, after paying cash for his items, thought he put his change into his right jacket pocket, he didn't, he drop his money on the floor, there were 10s and 20s in that change. At that very moment two young black kids, one male, one female walked into the store.
They were in there late teens, I call them kids, anyway the young lady noticed that the husband had drop his money, the young lady picked up his money and ran out the door to catch the husband and return it to him. The look on his face was worth a million dollars, he couldn't believe he drop his money and twice as surprising to him was who chased him down to return it.
Now I'm go to say something that I'll get a lot flack for, these young black teenagers were dressed as what, the everyday average white citizen might label as "trouble makers" hip-hop, tattoos, the young mans pants were sagging, I don't approve of sagging pants but they are his pants!!, anyway, the young lady gave him his money and turn around and walked away before the husband could say thank you, she didn't want to hear that, and I'm willing to bet she didn't return his money for him, she returned it for her. She knows she's better than that, better then what the majority of the world thinks about her, she knew that giving him what belongs to him is a way of saying, give me what belongs to me. Education, education is the key that unlocks the doors to opportunity.
There has been for the last four years a black woman in the media, on the webs, and in the middle of everyday urban conversation that holds her head high, that speaks about young black woman educating them selves, about having respect and good intentions, and being the strong black woman that they can be.
For the last four years, there has been a black woman that's smart, beautiful, a good mother, educated, reserved, healthy and active all over the Tube.
When your world is saturated with negative visions of black woman, rump shaking, rear ends hanging out, talking crazy, it's easy to follow those examples when there's little to no home training.
Michele Obama has had a powerful impact on the young black woman that see her in the media, a powerful positive impact. That young teenager in that super market returned that money because it was the right thing to do, because she knows she can make her way without stealing.
I was so proud to see that take place, the young man was just standing there with his head phones in his ears, listening to his music and he didn't open his mouth. The young lady made an independent decision on her own, she didn't check with him, it wasn't he that found that money, she did.
Recently the right has been trying to create a scandal in the Obama White House, something, anything.
Senator McCain has made the rounds on the news outlets demanding answers, well Friday he got them from a fellow military personal that he claims to respect. Fox News Network is now floating the idea that General Petraeus is being blackmailed by the President and that there's some amazing conspiracy to keep the truth about Benghazi from surfacing.
Well I guess if your in business, and you need to sell something, anything is better than nothing. I feel bad for those folks that listen to that foolishness and buy those books and pay to attend those high price seminars.
I work with a guy that buys into that craziness, he tried last week, after "Do The Mitt Romney" lost the election, to explain to me the CIA, NSA, FBI,& Sec.Service conspiracy to cover up the "murders" in Benghazi. All which of course is being orchestrated by President Obama. I almost busted out laughing in his face but I didn't because other then those occasional trips to zipper head land he's not a bad guy, other than those moments of delusion we get along just fine.
Hopefully we'll get a budget deal before Jan.1 and move on to the other important issues that face this country and the world.
I'm waiting to see how long it will take before the rockets that are being fired into Israel from Gaza are blamed on Obama Administration.
