I've enjoyed the political conversation this week about the nations fiscal cliff, both the Democrats and the Republicans have made it a point to keep this subject front and center on the political air waves to make sure the voting public sees them "doing there jobs"
Here's the big skinny, nothing will happen in 23 days, I repeat, nothing. I don't care if the two parties make a deal or not, you and I won't know the difference. You'll still have to pay your taxes, that you'll get back at the end of the fiscal year and you'll still go Christmas Shopping and spend more than you should on your credit cards. We as a nation have the ability to barrow against our own currency, remember we print our own currency as we need it.
Now, the unemployment insurance might take a hit, but let's face it, some people have been on unemployment now for two years, enough is a enough.
What I think is so funny is the hard right, the Tea Party Zipper Head Club that are so upset about Obama winning re-election. If this fiscal cliff business was being discussed with any other President, we wouldn't be having the conversation. I'm one of those radical black liberals that believes there is an element of race preventing some in Congress from working with this President. Let us not forget the right wing reason for living, keeping Obama out of the White House for another four years, now that this idea went bust, it's time for plan B we're not giving Obama anything.
I had some fun last week at work, we have a few hardcore right wing Tea Party types at the office, I started floating the rumor that I received my $50.00 gift card from the Obama Administration for supporting him and making voter registration calls for him last month. It took all of 48 hours before the office was buzzing with the right wing confirmed evidence of Obama purchasing votes and support with gift cards, I love it.
Race is still a major factor in this season of politics, no matter what else you hear from the mouth of a Republican, race is and will remain being a major hurtle for them to overcome.
It's like watching their teenage daughter going out on a date with a hip hop African American kid with his pants sagging off his rear end, despite his 3.9 GPA, their worried about what that weird kid is going to do to their innocent daughter.
