A friend of mind, who happens to be a republican, called me several times during the NBA strike, to hammer home the fact that a small group of people, who had a tremendous amount of influence over a sports economy were nothing more then cry babies. The fact that thousands of people were out of work because of this small group of people and the actions they decided to take that brought on the strike. He couldn't understand how and why, in his words, this small group of people would scheme, plot and plan such a action with no regard for the other folks involved in the business.
Over and over again, my republican friend would say, it's anti-American, they must be the greediest group of people on the face of the earth. What about the small businesses that are already suffering, the t-shirt salesmen, the hot dog salesmen, parking lot attendants, local bars in the area of the stadiums, all of these people were suffering as a result of their actions, he always echoed.
I would always respond with, well, you never know how much money is really involved in a situation unless you have inside information about the bottom line revenues. Maybe the players have their reasons.
It dawn on me, the NBA walk off, the unwillingness of the players and the owners not to move a inch on the issues they stood behind, eventually they had to come to some sort of an agreement, the games will begin in December.
What about the republican party? you think they are willing to move a inch to restore the nations economy, the hot dog salesmen, the t-shirt salesmen, the local bars throughout the country?
I certainly hope your not stuck with season tickets to that silly game.
