I tried hard not to comment on the religious red meat being thrown out by Rick Santorum to the mob of what they like to believe them selves to be, true Christians. Like many others before him, Rick Santorum is using the Bible to substantiate his message and that's an old Christian, Catholic stance taken by the so-called true believers. It seems that Rick Santorum has a view of the Bible that leaves several books out. Old Testament verses are always convenient when your trying to be a hard liner about other people living right. Leviticus, Deuteronomy , books like that are always good when your attempting to call into question somebody's life style, and not look at your own.
I'm a Christian but I don't go around beating people in the head with a Bible, I think there's a passage somewhere in there that goes something like, profess your faith and tell people about Christ, try and introduce them to the life style of do unto others as you would have them do unto you, or something like that, don't quote me look it up.
There's also something in there about instead of calling out the spec in somebody else's eye, remove the plank in your own. So what am I driving at? Rick Santorum has a view about woman and the role they play in today's society that sounds a lot like anger. I think he's reaping what his forefathers sowed for him, that's in the Bible somewhere as well. I think Rick is upset about his mentally retarded kid and he wants to take it out on the world. I think he feels that since he's been a good Christian, he doesn't deserve that fate.
His position on health care for expecting mothers and the fact that he, nor his wife, have a say so as to what should happen to every child coming into the world upsets him. This position that health care prior to birth is a screening process that woman go through in order to decide weather or not they will get a abortion because there's something wrong with the baby,(retarded) and he's been sent by God to prevent this great Sin.
I can't talk because I haven't been to Church in a while, I can't afford it, there's a Church in this city that wants to see your tax return before they will consider you to be a member. There's another one that I called late one night, (up studying) and made up a story about robbing a bank and I didn't know what to do with the money because I felt bad about what I had just done, and they gave me a post office box number to send the money to and said they'd pray for me.
Where was all this concern for the Christian faith when the Catholic Church was shuffling pedophiles around from Church to Church in a effort to hide them from the 160,000 rape victims that were seeking relief, or was that not an issue. Where was the deep seeded belief when the Catholic Church turned over the Jews to the Nazi storm troopers that murdered them. I can go on and on, history is full of true believers that assisted in rape, murder, and robbery but not one peep will you hear from the true believers, the real Christians.
I think it's quite simple, this Christian living thing, there's a whole society of people that live there lives helping other people, giving there time and yes, in some cases there money to complete strangers, looking for absolutely nothing in return, it's got something to do with sacrifice, that's in the Bible as well. Pray in private, in the back of the Church if need be, that's just as prominent as the front row, don't worry about tomorrow because worrying will not increase your life, not one day.
There's a lot of good wisdom in the Bible, I carry one in my work bag everyday, New Testament, I pray twice a day, in the morning, and in the evening. I'm not going to go into what I've givein away to complete strangers, that's between me and Christ. I don't judge people for there own personal actions, that's between them and what ever God they decide to worship.
