I was clicking through the channels this morning and when I got to this particular Christian church program the minister or pastor or whatever he's called was telling his flock about how the Bible reflects the connection of the coming of the Anti-Christ and the progressive politics of the day. I stop at that channel because I wanted to hear how this guy was going to tie these two things together and make since.
Okay, here it is, the push for abortions, fare taxes, separation of church and state, equal pay for women, everybody paying their fare share are all signs, according to this guy, of the coming of the end of the world. According to the minister, changing the way we live is the beginning of the end.
Now I've read the Bible, several editions, from cover to cover, and I can't remember reading anything like that. Now I know everybody has the right to intrepid the scriptures as they see fit, but to equate certain passages to the liberal view of the political spectrum is the most ridicules thing I've heard in a long time.
As I remember it, a lot of the scriptures are based on aiding the poor, looking out for your brother and sisters, giving to Cesar what is Caesar's and giving to God what is Gods. (Taxes)
I also remember something in the book about the Apostles being told not to expect payment for spreading the good word, I remember the book plainly stating that you are not to expect gold, silver, or even copper as a person giving the good news of the good book. Now of course you can except room and board and travel expenses to the next town or village, a donkey or ox cart or something but I can't remember anything about jet planes, Rolls Royce's, giant houses in several states and in some cases a couple of wives.
How and the heck has the Christian teachings of the right become something to do with the politics of today is a brain fart for me. It doesn't matter if your a democrat or a republican, being a Christian has nothing to do with who you vote for. You can vote for anyone you want and I can vote for anyone I want and we still should be able to share the same faith. If you want to carry a gun into church, exercising your second amendment rights, as long as you don't start shooting people that disagrees with you, I guess you should be able, I can't understand why you would want to carry a gun everywhere you go is so important but to each his or her own, that's the wonderful thing about this country, freedoms, yours as well as my own.
The NRA recently had their convention in St.Louis, as I read the reports about the speeches made at this gathering I couldn't help but to laugh, the fact is some of these people are down right scary. Machine guns, AR-15s, 50 cal. hand guns, noise suppressors, double and extra clips, what are they getting ready for? You can't kill the Anti-Christ with bullets, you can kill those so-called supporters of the coming of the end, liberals and minorities.
I had a strange thought when I heard about the gun get together, someone should have rolled in about a 1000 gals. of Jack Danial's and WOW! what a show that would have been.
