Reince Priebus, Chairman of the R.N.C, stumbled this morning on Meet The Press when asked about Paul Ryan's budget proposal and what it would do to the middle class people of this country. Reince Priebus tried his best to change the subject when David Gregory insisted on a answer on the substance of the major issues. As much as I hate to say it, Wisconsin Republican Governor Scott Walker had a more realistic comment about the republican choice for Vice President, "unless the republican party can win over the independent voter, there's no way this duo will win the White House."
The fact is Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) as a congressman voted for every unpaid bill the Bush Administration put on the floor of congress. Two wars, TARP, prescription drug plan, all deficit increasing bills that the so-called fiscally minded Paul Ryan voted for. After fourteen years as a congressman you would think this congressman would know as a Vice President selection he would have to answer for the votes he made on the floor of the congress.
All of a sudden the American people are suppose to forget this congressman's positions on issues in the past and just give him a green light to the White House. The republicans screamed to the top of there lungs three years ago that Obama wasn't ready for the White House, now!, this kid from WI. is ready, what a double standard.
I was happy to see the ultimate warrior Rachael Maddow on the Meet The Press set this morning, someone who I know will tell it like it is, as she simply put it, Paul Ryan is the best thing to happen for the democrats, Paul Ryan is a bulls eyes they can shoot at with his budget proposals.
As Dan Balz of the Washington Post put it Paul Ryan's Medicare idea didn't win over his own party when they got a chance to look at it, major cuts that basically changes the way seniors receive there coverage that no republican wants to return to there district and try and sell to the constitutes they represent.
Rachael called Ryan's idea Voodoo economics, making tax cuts for the wealthy and then sitting back and hoping for the magic to happen. I do want to say that the exchange between Rachael Maddow and the National Reviews Rich Lowry was pretty good, as expected Rachael banged him in the head about the facts and Rich got upset, these are the reasons why I like watching Meet the Press, you never know what your going to see and hear.
