For the past few weeks America has been weighting the rights of the semi-automatic machine gun owners and the struggle to keep fanatics from killing innocent people. For me the math is simple, subtraction as always equaled less than what you started with, however there are those in this country who believe this equation amounts to more control over individual freedoms. I am familiar with the semi-automatic machine guns, I've never gone "hunting" but I am aware of the power a person feels they have with one of these weapons in their hand.
The argument that these weapons are needed to protect against the tyranny of a oppressive, over reaching government are dumb to put it simply. Most of the people you see and hear from posing this argument are what you call couch patriots, people who scream about their rights to have these weapons on the weekend and arrive at work on Monday with a story to tell their co-workers.
I watched a group of over weight, middle aged guys with their hunting gear on, half drunk, standing in the back of one of these little town hall meetings on Fox, doing their best to look as mean as they could, proclaim their patriotism and one guy even said he'd die before he'd give up his right to keep and carry a semi-automatic machine gun with a 100 round clip. After he made his statement, because he had yelled as loud as he could and waved his hands over his head, he had to sit down because he was exhausted from all that exercise.
Here's the problem, the folks that claim they need these weapons or the right to have these weapons work all week and want to play with these guns on the weekend, the folks they use these weapons, for real! use them seven days a week, twenty four hours a day, and they don't use them for target practice or hunting deer.
