Made In The U.S.A.

I spoke with an old friend who happens to be a republican. After about five minutes into the conversation, he ask me, how come President Obama is being so divisive?. I was caught off guard, I ask him, what makes you say Obama is being divisive?. He said the Jobs Act that president Obama proposed, is equivalent to class war fair. I ask him to be more specific. His response was, it's not fair for the rich to pay more in taxes and the middle class doesn't. I guess you can classify my friend as someone that is rich. He also said that if the rich have to pay more in taxes, everyone should have to pay a little more in taxes.

When i explain to him the reasons, and methods he used to earn his wealth, laborers, truck drivers, the roads his trucks drove up and down with police protection, the nurses that treated all of those folks that have worked for him and his father over the years, (his father was a democrat) these are the people he was suggesting endure a tax hike in this failing economy. My friend isn't a tea party member, he wouldn't be my friend if that were the case, as a matter a fact, he thinks those people marching up and down the street because one of those T.V. show personalities from fox suggest it, is crazy. At any rate, i explain to him that the people that have worked for his family for the last 40 years, loyally, and without complaining, when the times were tough, in the dead of those northern winters in Boston,Ma, who are always opening and closing those warehouses for him while he's in Florida, going fishing, are the people he is referring to when it comes to tax increases for everyone.

You see, my friend has really never done a hard days work in his life, he was lucky enough to be born into a situation that will provide him and his children with a good life. His father on the other hand, work hard everyday of his life, in the freezing cold, and in the scorching heat, on Saturdays and yes, Sundays too,  side by side with my father and myself. My friend is very smart when it comes to business, he took a ten truck company and turn it into a three locations, one hundred truck company.

Sure, the bankers loan him the money, and yes, the banks help him with his business plan, and yes, the banks even help him with new clients, that was because they knew his fathers work ethic.
But the business would have never grown a inch without the people that knew people, that knew people to drive those trucks, work in those new warehouses, run those new office locations, and lets face it, I set up his NOS at a reduced rate, because of the friendship i had with his father.

Everyone that makes it in this capitalistic system we have, had help in some form or fashion. Everyone, no matter what type of business your in, you need assistance along the growth road.
Now that you've made it to easy street, so to speak, this is not time to forget where you come from, when i think about it, my friend is more a blue collar type then i am.
If your in a position  to support the guy in that warehouse, working 6 days a week, give him your support, allow him to earn a living and save enough money to send his kid to college. Then maybe, just maybe, that blue collar workers kid will grow up, and open up a business, and work hard in the dead of winter, and in the heat of summer, have a good work ethic, and then that kid can sit around with nothing else to do but go fishing in Florida
